Contour Cut?Artwork setupArtwork Setup for Cut to Shape (Contour Cut)Create a closed vector path that follows the exact finished shape of the graphic. Place the cut path on a separate layer above the print artwork and name the layer CutContour.Cut path: Use a spot color named CutContour. Set the path to stroke only with no fill.File setup: Keep the CutContour path as vector artwork. Do not flatten or rasterize it.Safety: Keep important text, logos and critical design elements safely inside the cut line.Shape: Avoid extremely small details, sharp inside corners and narrow projections; these may need adjustment for reliable cutting.Bleed: If printing extends to the finished edge, extend the background past the CutContour path so cutting variation does not leave an unwanted white edge.Contour Cut (Custom Shape)Follows a defined path to produce a custom-shaped graphic.Highlights: Custom shape; follows artwork pathBest for: Decals; logos; lettering; shaped signsConsider: Requires clean vector cut path; intricate shapes may need adjustmentFinishing: Artwork: vector contour path on separate named spot-color path/layer.
Rounded CornersRounds supported outside corners for a softer finished profile and cleaner handling.Highlights: Softens exposed corners; cleaner finished profile; easier handlingBest for: Rigid signs; display panels; presentation boards; frequently handled signsConsider: Corner radius must be compatible with material, thickness and finished sign size
Vinyl WeedingRemoves excess vinyl around contour-cut elements.Highlights: Removes unwanted vinyl; prepares cut lettering/shapesBest for: Cut vinyl lettering; logos; separated decalsConsider: Fine details increase labor and limit minimum size
Transfer MaskingHolds individual cut vinyl elements in position during installation.Highlights: Keeps cut elements aligned; installation aidBest for: Vinyl lettering; multi-part logosConsider: Mask is removed after installation
HemmingReinforces banner edges by folding and securing the perimeter for added strength and a finished edge.Highlights: Reinforces banner edges; adds strength; creates a finished perimeterBest for: Hanging banners; outdoor banners; banners using grommets or ropeConsider: Hemming adds material at the edge and should be planned with nearby artwork and finishing
GrommetsHemming; GrommetsReinforced metal eyelets provide mounting points for rope, hooks, zip ties and other compatible hanging methods.Highlights: Reinforced edges; attachment pointsBest for: Fence banners; wall banners; events; general hangingConsider: Grommets do not eliminate wind load
Pole Pockets / Rope in HemPole Pocket; Rope in HemPole pockets create sleeves; rope in hem provides continuous reinforced tie-off.Highlights: Integrated mounting; cleaner tension; pole/rope supportBest for: Street-pole banners; hanging banners; railsConsider: Pocket size must match pole; plan before production
Wind SlitsOpenings cut into solid banner to allow some air passage.Highlights: Allows some airflow through solid bannerBest for: Selected exposed outdoor banner installationsConsider: Interrupts artwork; not windproof; mesh often better in high windFinishing: Consider mesh first for consistently windy locations.

How do I choose the right material?Start with where the graphic will be installed and how long it needs to last. A wall graphic, window graphic, floor decal, outdoor banner and rigid parking sign may all be the same physical size but need completely different materials. Consider indoor versus outdoor exposure, smooth versus textured surfaces, removability, wind load, rigidity, transparency, illumination and whether the graphic will be handled or moved. If the application is unusual, describe the surface and environment in Project Notes so our team can verify the selection.
Why are materials grouped instead of listed as hundreds of separate cards?Materials are organized by their most common applications to make comparison easier. Within each family, thickness, finish, adhesive, rigidity, outdoor durability and specialty performance can vary. Choose the material that best matches the installation surface and environment, and use the individual option details to compare important differences before ordering.
When should I add lamination?Lamination is useful when a compatible print needs added abrasion resistance, easier cleaning, a different sheen or a writable dry-erase surface. Floor graphics use purpose-built systems where slip resistance and traffic performance are more important than appearance alone. Some specialty media is designed to perform without a separate laminate, so the best answer depends on the exact material and application.
What is required for Cut to Shape (Contour Cut)?Provide a clean closed vector path that defines the finished outline. Keep critical text, logos and other important elements safely inside the cut path and avoid excessive tiny points or extremely intricate edges. Cut vinyl may also require weeding and transfer masking so separate letters or shapes remain aligned during installation. Complex contours can require additional production review.
How should I choose grommets, pole pockets or rope-in-hem?Choose the finishing method based on how the banner will actually be supported. Grommets create individual tie points and work well on fences, walls and frames. Pole pockets spread support across a full edge and are useful with rods, crossbars or pole-banner systems. Rope in the hem creates a reinforced continuous attachment edge. Large banners, windy locations and unusual mounting conditions may need installation-specific review.
Do large-format files always need 300 dpi at full size? No. Required effective resolution depends on final dimensions, image content and normal viewing distance. Small close-viewed graphics need more effective resolution than very large banners or wall graphics viewed from farther away. Vector logos and text should remain vector whenever possible. If a file is built at reduced scale, its effective resolution at final size must still be adequate for the application.
Can every material be produced same day or next day?No. Rush availability depends on the selected material, size, printing, lamination and fabrication. Rush choices are shown only for qualifying configurations, and production-ready artwork must be received before the applicable cutoff. Production turnaround does not include shipping, delivery or installation time.
