What is Akuafoil?Akuafoil is a specialty metallic printing effect that combines a reflective metallic layer with CMYK color, allowing selected artwork to appear metallic in many colors.
Where does Akuafoil work best?It works well on logos, borders, patterns, illustrations, decorative accents, gradients and larger metallic design areas.
Will the entire bookmark look metallic?No. Only areas identified for Akuafoil receive the metallic treatment. Other artwork prints normally, creating contrast between reflective and standard printed areas.
What files should I provide?Provide the normal CMYK print artwork plus a separate Akuafoil mask file at the same size and alignment.
How should I build the Akuafoil mask?Use solid 100% black for areas receiving Akuafoil and white for areas without the effect. Keep the mask precisely aligned with the CMYK artwork.
How should I prepare the regular print artwork?Prepare artwork at final size in CMYK color, use 300 dpi raster images, include bleed when artwork reaches trim, and keep important text safely inside the cut line.
Can I use more than one metallic color?Yes. Because process color combines with the metallic layer, the design can contain multiple metallic colors and tonal changes rather than being limited to one foil color.
